An Update from our President

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. It was great to see the NHL release their phased approach to return to play and finish this season.

In regards to CT youth hockey, every day and every week new information is coming out and the situation is very fluid. Right now, there is not a lot of direction for rinks and organizations since we stopped play in March. Some organizations are advertising that their rinks will open in June. First, let me share that the State and the CHC will dictate when our organization can get back on the ice and as of today, there is not a definitive timeline. Second, I can tell you that the Board and I agree that the safety of our players and families will always come first. We will make sure that we have a clear plan on how to return to the ice safely.

Although the State of CT, USA Hockey and the CHC are still requiring all hockey activities to be on hold, they are starting to release some guidelines. Please visit USA hockey website https://www.usahockey.com/playersafety for update to date information

We have been receiving questions:

Will there be a covid refund policy?

We have implemented a Covid refund policy that states payment will be reimbursed in full if no season occurs or prorated if a shortened season goes into effect.

What you can do to be ready for when hockey is able to resume?

When is Bolton Ice Palace opening?

Targeted opening July 20 * Subject to change*

When will tryouts be?

We care about our players and families and know that kids have been off the ice for several months. We will be running clinics first to allow kids to try out their equipment, make sure it still fits and to get the rust off.

We are still waiting for additional guidance from the state of CT and The CHC and will share updates we receive. Any plans for reopening can and may change.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at

Thank You,

Gary Gordon

ECHO President
